Description
Festive and soft sugar cookie bars with creamy buttercream frosting, topped with colorful sprinkles for the 4th of July celebration.

- ¾ cups unsalted butter, room temperature
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- ¾ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature (for frosting)
- 2½ cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 3–4 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (for frosting)
- Decorative red, white and blue sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, powdered sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract; beat until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla; beat until smooth and fluffy.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled cookie bars.
- Top with red, white, and blue sprinkles. Slice and serve.
Notes
Feel free to switch up the sprinkle colors for other holidays or celebrations.
