American Goulash Recipe

Description

A hearty and comforting one-pot pasta dish made with ground beef, tomatoes, and elbow macaroni, perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add diced onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Italian seasoning, paprika, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in elbow macaroni. Cover and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  6. Remove bay leaf. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  7. Top with shredded cheddar cheese before serving, if desired.

Notes

American Goulash tastes even better the next day as leftovers. Great for meal prep.
