Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup crema Mexicana or sour cream
- 1–2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, plus 1 tablespoon adobo sauce
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
- 4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor.
- Blend until completely smooth, about 1 minute.
- Taste and adjust seasoning – add more adobo sauce for smokiness or salt for balance.
- Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Stir well before use and drizzle over your favorite dishes.
Notes
Tips: For lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of crema. Sauce thickens when chilled – add teaspoon of water if needed. Storage: Keeps refrigerated for up to 1 week. Freezing not recommended. Spice Level: Start with 1 pepper and add more after blending if needed.
