Description

A classic homemade beef lasagna layered with rich tomato sauce, creamy béchamel, and melted cheese for the ultimate comfort dish.


Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 800g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 250g lasagna noodles
  • 500ml béchamel sauce
  • 200g mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 100g parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pan, sauté onion and garlic until softened.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions and drain.
  6. In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce, followed by noodles, béchamel, and mozzarella. Repeat layers.
  7. Finish with a layer of béchamel, mozzarella, and grated parmesan on top.
  8. Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  9. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, prepare the meat sauce a day ahead. You can also add red wine while simmering the sauce.
