- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup caramelized onions
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, soup mix, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased loaf pan and shape into a loaf.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until cooked through.
- Remove from oven, top with caramelized onions and shredded cheese.
- Return to oven for 5-7 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
Notes
For extra flavor, prepare homemade caramelized onions. This meatloaf pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
