Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds thinly sliced steak
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 hoagie rolls
  • 6 tablespoon Cheese Whiz
  • 6 slices provolone (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Add sliced steak, salt, pepper, and garlic powder to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Slice the onions and bell peppers into strips. Add them to the skillet with the steak and cook until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low. Butter the hoagie rolls.
  5. Spread Cheese Whiz generously on the bottom half of each roll.
  6. Top with the steak and pepper mixture, followed by provolone cheese slices (if using).
  7. Close the hoagie and serve immediately.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the steak mixture. You can substitute the provolone with American cheese or cheddar. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For best results, use a good quality griddle or cast iron skillet.
