- 8 beef hot dogs
- 8 hot dog buns
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- Chopped onions for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onions and cook until soft.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Pour in tomato sauce and stir to combine.
- Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, cayenne, and brown sugar.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes until thickened.
- Meanwhile, cook hot dogs by grilling, boiling, or pan-searing.
- Place each hot dog in a bun and spoon chili generously over the top.
- Add shredded cheddar cheese and chopped onions if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For a thicker chili, simmer longer. For a spicy kick, add diced jalapeños or extra cayenne pepper.
