- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the whole milk and sugar.
- Stir constantly until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 35-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the milk has thickened and reduced by half, remove from heat.
- Add the butter and vanilla extract, stirring until fully incorporated.
- Let the condensed milk cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, you can use coconut milk instead of whole milk.
