A festive and tangy twist on the classic apple pie, this Cranberry Apple Pie blends sweet apples with tart cranberries in a flaky homemade crust.

- 2 cups fresh cranberries
- 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, mix cranberries, apples, both sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice until combined.
- Line a 9-inch pie dish with one pie crust and trim edges.
- Pour the fruit mixture into the crust and dot with butter.
- Cover with second crust, seal and flute edges, and cut small slits for steam to escape.
- Brush the top with beaten egg.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until crust is golden and filling is bubbly.
- Cool at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
You can use a mix of tart and sweet apples for better flavor balance. Protect crust edges with foil if browning too quickly.
