Scale
- 8 chicken drumsticks
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1 can cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and lightly brown chicken drumsticks on all sides. This step is optional but adds flavor.
- Place sliced onions in the bottom of the crockpot.
- Layer the browned chicken legs over the onions.
- In a bowl, mix cream of chicken soup, onion soup mix, chicken broth, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Pour the mixture over the chicken.
- Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours, until chicken is tender and cooked through.
- If thicker gravy is desired, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then stir into the crockpot 30 minutes before serving. Let cook until thickened.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles.
Notes
You can swap cream of chicken for cream of mushroom for a deeper flavor. Browning the chicken is optional but highly recommended.
