Description
A rich and naturally sweet date BBQ sauce made with tender dates, warm spices, and smoky flavors, perfect for grilling, dipping, or glazing meats and vegetables.
Ingredients

- 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Add the chopped dates and water to a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until dates are very soft.
- Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth.
- Return the date puree to the saucepan.
- Stir in the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, tomato paste, and molasses.
- Add the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder.
- Season with salt to taste.
- Simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Adjust seasoning as needed.
- Cool slightly before using.
Notes
For a thinner sauce, add a little water while blending. This sauce stores well in the refrigerator for up to one week.
