  • Author: Crystal
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 1 tray (about 20 pieces) 1x

Description

A quick and addictive holiday treat made with just a few ingredients – buttery toffee over crackers, topped with chocolate and festive sprinkles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Holiday sprinkles or chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and arrange saltine crackers in a single layer.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until it comes to a boil.
  3. Boil for 3-4 minutes without stirring, until the mixture is thick and bubbly.
  4. Pour the hot toffee evenly over the crackers and spread gently with a spatula.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes until bubbly.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the toffee.
  7. Let sit for 2 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
  8. Top with sprinkles or chopped nuts, if using.
  9. Cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.
  10. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Notes

You can use graham crackers or Ritz instead of saltines. Store in the fridge for a firmer texture.
