Description

A festive and moist holiday loaf infused with creamy eggnog and warm spices, topped with a sweet eggnog glaze – perfect for Christmas mornings or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2–3 tablespoons eggnog, pinch of nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  3. In another large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Mix in eggnog and vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled bread before serving.

Notes

This bread stays moist for days and can be wrapped and frozen. Use full-fat eggnog for best flavor and texture.
