Description
A quick and flavorful Mongolian-inspired ground beef bowl with savory-sweet sauce, served over rice for an easy weeknight dinner.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup beef broth (or water)
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, and hoisin sauce. Stir well to combine.
- Mix cornstarch with water to make a slurry, then stir it into the skillet to thicken the sauce.
- Cook for another 2–3 minutes until sauce is glossy and beef is coated.
- Serve over cooked white rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
You can swap white rice for cauliflower rice to make it low-carb. Add steamed broccoli or snap peas for extra veggies.
