Description

A spicy, sweet, and bold Firecracker Chicken tossed in a flavorful chili sauce—crispy, saucy, and perfect served over rice or noodles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs, whisked
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/3 cup buffalo or hot sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) or heat oil for stovetop cooking.
  2. Season chicken with salt and pepper.
  3. Coat chicken in cornstarch, then dip into whisked eggs.
  4. Pan-fry chicken until lightly golden, or bake for 15 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, whisk hot sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
  6. Add chicken to a baking dish and pour sauce over the top.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, stirring halfway through, until sticky and coated.
  8. Serve hot over rice with green onions.

Notes

Adjust heat by adding more or less red pepper flakes. Works great with thighs instead of breasts.
