Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet instant yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for icing)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2–3 tbsp milk (for icing consistency)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, melted butter, yeast, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
- Add flour and salt. Mix and knead the dough until smooth and elastic (about 8–10 minutes).
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 even rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Meanwhile, prepare the icing by mixing cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
- Spread the icing over the warm rolls and serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, make sure your milk is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast, and allow proper rise time for fluffy rolls.
