Description

A comforting and cheesy casserole loaded with ground beef, spinach, and creamy layers — a perfect weeknight dinner for the whole family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (10 oz) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until soft.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Drain excess fat.
  4. In a large bowl, mix spinach, cottage cheese, sour cream, egg, and half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer the spinach mixture and beef mixture evenly.
  6. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
  8. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can substitute cottage cheese with ricotta and add cooked pasta or rice for a heartier version.
