Description

A lighter twist on classic spaghetti sauce made with ground turkey, tomatoes, and Italian herbs.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup water or broth

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan.
  2. Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant.
  3. Stir in ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking into crumbles.
  4. Add tomato paste and cook 1 minute.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, seasonings, and water or broth.
  6. Simmer 20–25 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.
  7. Serve over spaghetti or pasta of choice.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the sauce simmer longer or add a splash of red wine.
