Description

A sweet and tangy condiment made with a blend of tomato puree, spices, and vinegar, perfect for topping hot dogs, burgers, or using as a dipping sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons dried onion flakes
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine tomato puree, corn syrup, vinegar, onion flakes, sugar, salt, lemon juice, and garlic powder.
  2. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  4. Reduce heat to low and let sauce simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, reduce the amount of water or add more corn syrup. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
