Homestyle Meatloaf

  • Author: Crystal
  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

A classic and comforting homestyle meatloaf with tender beef, savory seasoning, and a sweet tomato glaze — just like mom used to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ lbs. ground beef
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, milk, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, garlic, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a loaf pan or on a lined baking sheet.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to create the glaze.
  6. Spread half of the glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  8. In the last 10 minutes, spread the remaining glaze over the meatloaf and return to the oven.
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, mix in a bit of grated Parmesan or chopped fresh parsley. Leftovers make great sandwiches!
