Description
A classic and comforting homestyle meatloaf with tender beef, savory seasoning, and a sweet tomato glaze — just like mom used to make.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ lbs. ground beef
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon mustard
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, milk, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, garlic, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a loaf pan or on a lined baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to create the glaze.
- Spread half of the glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- In the last 10 minutes, spread the remaining glaze over the meatloaf and return to the oven.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, mix in a bit of grated Parmesan or chopped fresh parsley. Leftovers make great sandwiches!
