Description

A delicious homemade apple pie filling, perfect for pies, crisps, and other desserts.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. Gradually add water and stir until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble.
  4. Add sliced apples and lemon juice, stirring to coat.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes until apples are tender.
  6. Remove from heat and allow to cool before using in pies or storing.
