Instructions

- In a large bowl whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Fold in the raisins and orange zest, then make a well in the center.
- In a separate bowl beat the egg, then stir in the buttermilk and melted butter until combined.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir just until a soft dough forms; do not overmix.
- Divide the dough evenly among the muffin cups and brush the tops with egg wash.
- Bake for 18‑20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the tops are golden brown.
- Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
