Description
A flavorful Italian twist on classic meatloaf, packed with herbs, Parmesan, and marinara sauce, then baked to perfection with a gooey mozzarella topping.

- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup marinara sauce, divided
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, eggs, onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a loaf pan or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread half of the marinara sauce over the top of the loaf.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove from oven, spread the remaining marinara sauce over the loaf and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Return to oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let rest 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
Use freshly grated Parmesan and mozzarella for best flavor. Serve with garlic bread or a side of pasta for a complete Italian dinner.
