Description

A hearty and flavorful Italian-style meatloaf packed with herbs, cheese, and a rich tomato glaze.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic, onion, eggs, milk, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix until just combined — do not overmix.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.
  5. Spread half of the marinara sauce over the top of the loaf.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven, top with remaining marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake for another 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or a side of roasted vegetables for a comforting Italian-style meal.
