- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Boil potatoes in a large pot of salted water until fork tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside and keep warm.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft.
- Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
- Stir in ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir well to coat.
- Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer for 5-7 minutes until gravy thickens.
- Spoon the ground beef gravy over a bed of mashed potatoes and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

You can swap beef broth for chicken or vegetable broth depending on preference or availability.
