Description

Fun and spooky meringue treats shaped like bones and ghosts, perfect for Halloween parties or festive gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F (95°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat until stiff, glossy peaks form.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract.
  5. Transfer meringue into a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
  6. Pipe bone shapes and ghost shapes onto prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until dry and crisp.
  8. Turn off the oven and let meringues cool inside with the door slightly ajar.
  9. For ghosts, use melted chocolate or edible markers to draw eyes and mouths after cooling.

Notes

Make sure your mixing bowl is completely grease-free to achieve perfect stiff peaks. Store in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
