Description

Soft, hearty, and slightly sweet oatmeal dinner rolls made with warm oats and fluffy dough—perfect for weeknight meals, holidays, or sandwich sliders.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 45 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Combine oats, boiling water, butter, and brown sugar in a bowl.
  2. Let mixture cool until warm, not hot.
  3. In a separate bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and rest for 5 minutes.
  4. Mix yeast mixture into the cooled oatmeal mixture.
  5. Add salt and gradually stir in flour until a soft dough forms.
  6. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  7. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and rise for 1 hour.
  8. Punch down dough and shape into rolls.
  9. Place rolls on a greased baking sheet and rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Brush rolls with melted butter after baking for extra softness.
