Easy Salisbury Steak Recipe

Description

A classic comfort food dish featuring juicy beef patties smothered in a rich mushroom and onion gravy.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 medium onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, chopped onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape into 4 oval patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and onions. Cook until softened.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir for 1 minute.
  6. Slowly whisk in beef broth and ketchup. Cook until thickened.
  7. Return patties to skillet, spoon gravy over top, cover, and simmer for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine to the gravy. Best served with creamy mashed potatoes or buttered noodles.
