Ingredients

- 500g ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup peas
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add diced onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
- Add ground meat and cook until browned.
- Stir in carrots and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Simmer until thickened.
- Stir in peas and season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer meat mixture to a baking dish.
- Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the top.
- Sprinkle with cheddar cheese if using.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
You can use leftover mashed potatoes. Add herbs like thyme or rosemary for extra flavor.
