Description
A comforting and hearty Shepherd’s Pie made with seasoned ground beef, vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes baked until golden on top.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion, carrots, and garlic until softened.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, draining excess fat.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Simmer until thickened. Add peas and season with salt and pepper.
- In a pot, boil potatoes until tender. Drain, then mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Spread beef mixture evenly in a baking dish.
- Top with mashed potatoes, spreading evenly to cover the meat.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
- Let rest a few minutes before serving.
Notes
You can prepare the filling ahead of time and assemble before baking. For extra flavor, add shredded cheddar cheese on top of the mashed potatoes before baking.
