- 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch pieces
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 ½ cups beef broth
- 4 medium carrots, sliced
- 3 medium potatoes, diced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 stalk celery, chopped
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 large bay leaf
Instructions
- Coat beef stew meat with flour, salt, and pepper
- Place coated meat in slow cooker
- Add beef broth, carrots, potatoes, onion, celery, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, garlic, and bay leaf
- Stir to combine all ingredients
- Cover and cook on Low for 7-8 hours or High for 3-4 hours
- Remove bay leaf before serving
Notes
Tips: For thicker gravy, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp water and stir into stew during last 30 minutes of cooking. Substitutions: Use sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes, or add peas during last hour of cooking. Storage: Refrigerate in airtight containers for up to 4 days. Freezes well for up to 3 months.
