- 4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts (approx 32oz, weighed raw)
- 1 cup reduced sugar ketchup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 Tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together ketchup, water, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder and salt.
- Pour sauce over chicken, coating evenly.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours until chicken shreds easily.
- Remove chicken and shred with two forks. Return to slow cooker and mix with sauce.
- Serve on buns with coleslaw or over rice. Enjoy!
Notes
Tips: For spicier BBQ sauce, add 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper. Substitutions: Use bone-in thighs for richer flavor. Storage: Refrigerate in airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for 3 months.
