Description

These soft sourdough dinner rolls are fluffy, flavorful, and perfect for any meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix sourdough starter, warm milk, butter, sugar, and egg.
  2. Add salt and flour gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 12–15 equal pieces.
  6. Shape into rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover and let rise again until puffy.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Brush warm rolls with melted butter before serving.

Notes

For extra softness, let the dough rise slowly in the refrigerator overnight.
