Description

A sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy Thai sweet chili sauce perfect for dipping, drizzling, and cooking.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 tablespoons red chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water (for slurry)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, rice vinegar, sugar, honey, garlic, chili flakes, and soy sauce.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
  4. Mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water to form a slurry.
  5. Slowly stir slurry into the saucepan.
  6. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool before serving.
  8. Store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator.

Notes

Adjust chili flakes to control the heat level. Sauce thickens further as it cools.
