Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter

- 4 cups turkey or chicken stock
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

- Drippings from roasted turkey (optional)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Whisk in the flour to create a roux and cook for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- Gradually whisk in the turkey or chicken stock, ensuring there are no lumps.
- Add salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, and onion powder.
- Continue whisking and simmering until the gravy thickens, about 5–7 minutes.
- For extra flavor, stir in the turkey drippings.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve warm over turkey, mashed potatoes, or stuffing.
Notes
You can make this ahead of time and reheat just before serving. If the gravy gets too thick, simply whisk in a bit more stock to loosen it up.
