Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add sugar, softened butter, salt, and egg. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough and divide into equal portions. Shape into rolls.
- Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake rolls for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush warm rolls with melted butter before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle sea salt or fresh herbs on top before baking. These rolls freeze well, so you can make them ahead.
