- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting
- Pink food coloring
- Valentine’s sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop dough into balls and place them onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft.
- Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
- In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and food coloring until smooth.
- Spread frosting over cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles.
Notes
Do not overbake to keep the cookies soft. Frost only after cookies are completely cooled for best results.
