Description
These soft, heart-shaped pretzels coated in cinnamon sugar with a strawberry twist make the perfect Valentine’s Day treat. The sweet strawberry jam adds a romantic touch to the classic cinnamon sugar flavor.

- 2 tsp dry active yeast
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- ½ cup strawberry jam OR strawberry puree
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1½ tsp kosher salt
- FOR THE CINNAMON SUGAR COATING: 3 tbsp melted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- FOR THE STRAWBERRY PUREE: 1½ cup frozen or fresh strawberries
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and brown sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add melted butter, strawberry jam/puree, and vanilla to the yeast mixture.
- Gradually mix in flour and salt until a dough forms.
- Knead dough for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let dough rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Divide dough into 12 equal portions and shape into heart-shaped pretzels.
- Boil pretzels in water for 30 seconds each, then transfer to a baking sheet.
- Bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- While warm, brush with melted butter and coat in cinnamon sugar mixture.
Notes
Tip: For extra strawberry flavor, add 1 tsp strawberry extract to the dough. These pretzels are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat briefly in the oven to refresh.
