Ingredients
- ½ C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
- ¼ C sugar
- ½ tsp pure almond extract
- 1 C flour
- ¼ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ C Valentine’s Day nonpareils sprinkles
- 1 – 2 in mini heart cookie cutter
- Icing ingredients:
- ¾ C powdered sugar
- 3–5 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp clear vanilla extract
- 4 tbsp Valentine’s Day nonpareils sprinkles
- 1 disposable piping bag
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add almond extract and mix well.
- Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
- Roll out dough to about ¼ inch thickness.
- Cut into desired shapes using a mini heart cookie cutter.
- Place on prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Allow to cool completely before icing.
- To make icing, combine powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
- Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Transfer to a disposable piping bag and pipe onto cooled cookies.
- Decorate with Valentine’s Day nonpareils sprinkles.
Notes
Tips: Use a high-quality almond extract for the best flavor. If you don’t have a mini heart cookie cutter, you can use a regular cookie cutter or even a glass to cut out shapes. To store, place cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
