Creepy, fun Halloween cookies shaped like witch fingers with almond nails and a gory red jam effect.
Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup whole almonds
- Red food gel or strawberry jam
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream butter and powdered sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extract.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients until dough forms.
- Divide dough into pieces and roll each into finger shapes.
- Press an almond at one end of each cookie to form a fingernail. Make small lines in the dough with a knife to resemble knuckles.
- Place on baking sheet and bake 18-20 minutes, until lightly golden.
- Remove almonds, add a dab of red gel or jam, then press almond back for a bloody nail effect.
- Cool completely before serving.
Notes
For extra spooky effect, use green food coloring in the dough.
