- 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 large onion, halved and thinly sliced
- Kosher salt
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tbsp poppy seeds
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 12 mini Hawaiian rolls
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup honey mustard
- 1.5 lb deli sliced ham
- 1 lb sliced Swiss cheese
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add the sliced onion with a pinch of kosher salt; cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
- Melt butter in a small saucepan, stir in poppy seeds, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce, and cook for 1 minute to make the poppy‑butter topping.
- Slice the mini Hawaiian rolls horizontally, leaving a hinge.
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise and honey mustard.
- Brush the inside of each roll with a thin layer of the poppy‑butter mixture.
- Spread a thin layer of the mayo‑mustard mixture on the top half of each roll.
- Layer deli ham and Swiss cheese on the bottom half of each roll.
- Top with a generous spoonful of caramelized onions.
- Close the sliders and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 8–10 minutes, until the cheese melts and the tops are lightly toasted.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Assembled sliders can be refrigerated for up to 4 hours before baking; reheat briefly if needed.
