A hearty casserole that blends the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with comforting baked layers of beef, cheese, and Bisquick batter.

- 2 cups Bisquick baking mix (mix with 1 cup of water)
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
- 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
- 3/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (sharp or medium)
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté onion and green pepper until softened.
- Add ground beef, breaking it up, and cook until browned; drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic powder, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; cook 1 minute.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Combine Bisquick with 1 cup water in a bowl, stirring until smooth.
- Spread the beef mixture in a greased casserole dish and pour the Bisquick batter over it.
- Drop spoonfuls of softened cream cheese over the batter and swirl gently.
- Layer provolone slices and shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
- Bake for 30‑35 minutes, until cheese is melted and golden and the casserole is set.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra crispiness, broil the casserole for 2‑3 minutes at the end. Serve with a side salad for a complete meal.
