- 500 g ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until browned; drain excess fat.
- Stir in onion, garlic, and bell pepper; sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add paprika, black pepper, salt, and dried oregano; cook 1 minute.
- Mix in crushed tomatoes; simmer for 10 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Transfer the beef mixture to a greased 9‑inch baking dish.
- Evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella and cheddar over the top.
- Bake for 20‑25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne or use pepper jack cheese. This casserole pairs well with a simple green salad.
