A moist, sweet banana bread loaded with chocolate chips and a crunchy turbinado sugar topping.

- 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup mashed bananas (3 medium ripe bananas)
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs at room temperature
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips divided
- 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar for sprinkling on bread
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl combine mashed bananas, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
- Fold in half of the chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the top with turbinado sugar and the remaining chocolate chips.
- Bake for 55–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
