Description

A moist, sweet banana bread loaded with chocolate chips and a crunchy turbinado sugar topping.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup mashed bananas (3 medium ripe bananas)
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips divided
  • 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar for sprinkling on bread

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl combine mashed bananas, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in half of the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the top with turbinado sugar and the remaining chocolate chips.
  7. Bake for 55–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
