Description

A comforting, homestyle meatloaf made with juicy ground beef, breadcrumbs, and a tangy ketchup glaze.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, ketchup, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; mix gently until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place on a baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
  4. Mix brown sugar with 2 tbsp ketchup; spread evenly over the top of the loaf.
  5. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra moisture, you can add 1/4 cup grated carrots or zucchini to the meat mixture.
