- 4 garlic cloves (minced)
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can beef broth
- 1 (35-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15.5 ounce) can black beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1 (15.5 ounce) can garbanzo beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
- Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon (about 8 minutes). Drain excess fat.
- Add onions and bell pepper. Cook until softened (5-7 minutes). Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant (1 minute).
- Add chili powder, cumin, red pepper flakes, and smoked paprika. Toast spices for 1 minute while stirring constantly.
- Stir in tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes until darkened slightly.
- Pour in beef broth, using your spoon to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom.
- Add crushed tomatoes, black beans, garbanzo beans, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low, cover partially, and simmer gently for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Season with salt to taste. Serve over hot rice with your favorite toppings.
Notes
Tips: For extra heat, add diced jalapeños with the peppers. Substitutions: Use ground turkey instead of beef. Storage: Refrigerate in airtight containers for up to 5 days or freeze for 3 months.
