Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken tenders
- 2/3 cup whole wheat seasoned bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- olive oil spray
- 12 Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Pat chicken tenders dry, season with salt and pepper.
- In a shallow bowl, combine bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
- Whisk egg and water together in another bowl.
- Dredge each tender first in the egg mixture, then in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
- Place coated tenders on a baking sheet lined with parchment and lightly spray with olive oil.
- Bake for 12‑15 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.
- While tenders bake, split the Hawaiian rolls horizontally and place on a large baking sheet.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara on the bottom half of each roll.
- Top each with a baked chicken tender, a sprinkle of mozzarella, and a pinch of grated parmesan.
- Drizzle melted butter over the tops and return to oven for 5 minutes, or until cheese bubbles.
- Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
For extra crispiness, broil the assembled sliders for 1‑2 minutes at the end. Substitute gluten‑free bread crumbs for a fully gluten‑free version.
