Description

Crispy chicken tenders baked on sweet Hawaiian rolls, smothered in marinara and melty mozzarella for a fun twist on classic chicken parm sliders.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken tenders
  • 2/3 cup whole wheat seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • olive oil spray
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pat chicken tenders dry, season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a shallow bowl, combine bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
  4. Whisk egg and water together in another bowl.
  5. Dredge each tender first in the egg mixture, then in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
  6. Place coated tenders on a baking sheet lined with parchment and lightly spray with olive oil.
  7. Bake for 12‑15 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.
  8. While tenders bake, split the Hawaiian rolls horizontally and place on a large baking sheet.
  9. Spread a thin layer of marinara on the bottom half of each roll.
  10. Top each with a baked chicken tender, a sprinkle of mozzarella, and a pinch of grated parmesan.
  11. Drizzle melted butter over the tops and return to oven for 5 minutes, or until cheese bubbles.
  12. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

For extra crispiness, broil the assembled sliders for 1‑2 minutes at the end. Substitute gluten‑free bread crumbs for a fully gluten‑free version.
