Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until dough forms.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
- Cut out cookie shapes using floral or baby-themed cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on a lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool completely before decorating.
- Prepare royal icing, divide into bowls, and tint with pastel food coloring.
- Pipe floral designs and add sprinkles or edible flowers if desired.
- Let icing set before serving.
Notes
For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling out. These cookies can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
