Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the white sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to the butter mixture alternating with milk.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35‑40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly, then dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving.
Notes
For a dairy‑free version, substitute butter with margarine and milk with almond milk. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
