Ingredients
Scale
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest (about the amount from one orange)
- 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons white granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 lb uncooked 99% lean ground turkey breast (or ground chicken breast)
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger root
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 scallions, sliced
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together apple cider vinegar, orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Set aside.
- Heat canola oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes.
- Stir in minced ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes; cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour the orange sauce over the cooked turkey, stirring to coat. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
- Add sliced scallions and give everything a final toss. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve hot over rice, quinoa, or noodles.
Notes
Tip: For extra depth, add a splash of fish sauce. Substitute orange juice with mandarin juice for a sweeter profile. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Reheat gently on the stove with a splash of water.
